Student Wellbeing & PBL

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) at OLR Wyoming

At Our Lady of the Rosary, Wyoming, we are committed to nurturing the whole child—spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally. Our approach to student wellbeing is supported through the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework, which guides the way we teach, model, and celebrate positive behaviours across our school.

What is PBL?

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a whole-school approach that creates a consistent, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students. It encourages students to make good choices, respect others, and take responsibility for their actions.

PBL at OLR is not just about behaviour—it’s about forming young people who are respectful, compassionate, resilient, and ready to make a positive difference in the world.

At OLR, our PBL expectations are grounded in our Catholic values and school motto, “To Know, Love and Serve God.”

These values guide everything we do and are reflected in our three core behavioural expectations:

  • Be Respectful – We treat ourselves, others, and God’s creation with care and dignity.

  • Be Responsible – We take ownership of our learning and actions.

  • Be Safe – We make choices that keep ourselves and others safe in mind, body, and spirit.

These expectations are explicitly taught in classrooms, reinforced during play, and lived out through everyday interactions across the school.

Positive behaviour is acknowledged regularly at OLR through:

  • Verbal praise and encouragement

  • Merit awards and certificates

  • Whole-school celebrations and assemblies

  • Class-based rewards and team systems

These celebrations reinforce our shared commitment to a respectful, responsible, and safe school community.
